Documenting Occupy Tampa at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park

Minhgiao and I walked down to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park today to get a glimpse of the “Occupy” phenomenon that is spreading across the country.  The group was relatively small and peaceful.  I figured it to be a great chance to get out and shoot some documentary style photographs and see what the deal was.  There was one arrest while we were there – a man laying down on the grass in the park opted not to get up when asked – and was then hauled off in handcuffs.

Other than that, most everyone held up signs, chanted sayings, and then headed out for a march.  “We’re Marching Now!” said the protestors, and off they went!

I’m not going to get in to a big political conversation – as Helmut Newton said, “Look, I’m not an intellectual – I just take pictures”.

The photo’s were taken with my Leica M6 Rangefinder and 50mm Summicron – with Kodak Portra 400 film – As well as my digital Leica M9 & 35mm Summicron-ASPH.
